Carpe Diem . . . About

If you don’t do it now, you never will

After a 4 week sea kayak circumnavigation of  Wales in 2010 Paul returned to work with a very heavy heart. Getting up in the morning and not having to pack his boat left him feeling a little empty.

A few months later he was facing unemployment and a huge mid life crisis.

Having met Barry Shaw on the Wales circumnavigation, with stories of his around Britain trip fresh in his mind, he thought could he pull a trip like that off?
Why not?

Late September 2010, Eurion answered an advert Paul placed on a web forum for a paddling partner. Could two strangers work well enough together to complete a UK Circumnavigation? They think so.

Paul and Eurion meet up for the first time at South West Kayak Show

The trip will use only the ‘Best of British’ equipment to highlight the quality of design, manufacture and companies based in the UK.

On their trip around the UK coast, the two will be raising money for two great causes.
Barnardo’s helps vulnerable children across the UK and helped Paul as a youngster so raising money for them was a natural choice.

The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea and relies totally on charitable donations to operate. Eurion’s association with them goes back to when he was a student at Atlantic College, where the concept of the RIB was originally developed and later adopted by the RNLI for the Atlantic class inshore lifeboat. He is currently serving as a volunteer member of the shore crew at the station.

The two will be heading off clockwise in April 2013 and hope to go full circle in less than 120 Days.
